Sailor Shikiori Tokiwamatsu

Image
Testing out some Sailor Shikiori Cartridges before fully committing to the bigger ink bottles. I've been looking around for some deep greens for my fountain pen lately. I've got the Herbin Vert de Gris, while it is an awesome muted green, it's not what I'm looking for. Today, I got the Shikiori tokiwamatsu. This is the closest to a dark green they have available in the Analog shop. When the chance arrives, I'm going to compare it to the Miruai. Sailor Shikiori Tokiwamatsu box Sailor Shikiori Tokiwamatsu  The price is alright for three fun color cartridges. Php 195.00 is about US$4. This should last me a few weeks. For fun, I ran it on Google Translate just to see what is written there. In a special bra case? That was funny. This was made less than a year ago, when all the world was on lockdown. How awesome is that. Opening and installation will be done tonight and until then, I'm preparing myself to be blown away.

Tombow Mono One Air Touch

I hate using the erasers that comes with mechanical pencils. That's just me, getting obsessive compulsive about the looks of the eraser despite being encased in something as part of the pencil. The stock mechanical pencil eraser will only be used in dire situations only. So. I picked up this eraser the other day. Tombow Mono One Air Touch Packaging Front Tombow Mono One Air Touch Packaging Rear Main reasons for picking this over the trusty Staedtler Mars Plastic is that this is more portable size-wise. The cylindrical shape can fit in my pen sleeve unlike the boxy Staedtler. You can hold it like you hold a pen, thanks to the plastic holder, which can give you a bit more control. The plastic casing also help keep the eraser clean when you lug it around. What I don't like about the whole eraser design is that they put a cover on it. A clear cover that you can easily misplace. I'm just taking photos and already it rolled away on my desk. This eraser has a rubbery, silicone li...

Sailor Lecoule Nib

Image
I got my camera out, slapped in some macro lens and decided to do some quick shots of the Sailor Lecoule's nib. This particular example is a fine writer and I've enjoyed using it. Quick info: Pen: Sailor Lecoule Pen Color: Iron Black Nib Size: MF Ink: Herbin Vert de Gris Here it goes. This Stainless Steel Sailor Nib, I assume, is Ion Plated, because it has similar to the exterior accents of the pen. Do not worry about what looks like patina on the nib. It's just the ink, aptly named "Vert de Gris," by Herbin. It is worth noting at this point that the images below will look like the nib is a raw steel color, but in reality it looks like black chrome and the details are very hard to see with the naked eye. Nib decoration is an Anchor of Sailor's former logo design This might be an unpopular observation, but it seems to me that the nib slit is not exactly parallel with the feed's ink channel. While I'm pointlessly nitpicking here, I will just add the engr...

Zebra Delguard Honeycomb Green

Image
Zebra DelGuard Honeycomb Green Mail call! Today the Zebra DelGuard in Honeycomb Green arrived. Sharing some photos before I open it up. Zebra DelGuard packaging The mechanical pencil came in a fat packaging like it's wrapped in one big bubble. You tear out the entire back plastic panel to get to another plastic morph that holds the pencil in place. The presentation of the whole package is overly done and quite excessive but it does make it look more premium over the Kuru Toga Advance Limited this came with. Close up view of the DelGuard System Mechanism Seriously, in this day and age, a mechanical pencil like this is purchased (most probably online) by discerning minds who have spent a few hours or even days on the internet. There's no need to go mad for packaging. Having said that, I still find myself looking at and caressing this disposed carcass that Stationery geeks so adore. Golden inscription at the clip that says "Zebra DelGuard 0.5" Why do I associate the them...

Sailor Lecoule Iron Blue

New Pen Day! Sailor Lecoule  New Sailor Fountain Pen pick up today. I've been obsessing over the Shikiori for a few days now but I just can't get over the color choices available. I do see myself getting the more refined Sailor counterparts, but that will be for another day. But until then, I was looking for an understated pen design that I can bring anywhere, yet inexpensive enough to get over with should I lose it. I came across a display of the Lecoule at our local Pen Store and decided to get this for my first Sailor. This will be a stepping stone into my preparation for the more expensive Sailors. They will not be Pen Case queens. Sailor Lecoule in unopened box This is the Sailor Lecoule in Iron Blue. The blue is a deep Navy Blue that I almost mistook for black under adequate lighting. There are no gold accents, which makes it a bit sporty. Rear side of the Sailor Lecoule Packaging The back side of the box contains no word of English except for the "Made in Japan...

Pilot Petit

Image
New pen day! Pilot Petit 1 I went specifically to National Bookstore to ogle at some pens at their stationery part, without any intention to purchase a pen, as I was saving up to get a Pilot Kakuno Demonstrator. My weak resolve had me picking up a Pilot Petit 1 to play with. Pilot Petit 1 Japanese Instructions on the Pilot Petit 1 More Japanese instructions Local Price of the Pilot Petit 1 National Book Store sells the Petit1 at PHP 117.00 (USD 2.44). That sound like a reasonable price for a "gateway drug" to bring people into Fountain Pens. Clear Feed of the Pilot Petit 1 The feed is clear plastic. It was definitely a show when the ink slowly crept up from the reservoir. It was like awakening the dead, or breathing in a new life. Feed color when primed with black ink Once it fills up, it turns into what color your ink is. As always, black looks awesome. I am not totally sure about the other colors. In my opinion, they are already candy enough, and having a matching color fee...
