Cut 'Em Things

 I've previously tried the Sailor Shikiori Tokiwa matsu in cartridge form on Sailor Lecoule and I loved it. This is one of the greens that I see so much use and I thought I should get myself a bottle.  I loved it in Lecoule's Medium-Fine nib and I love it more in European-sized medium nibs. As of now, there are some people on Shopee selling samples of this (Jentle) and it's alright in the mean time.

I do love my pens and pencils but I want to get my hands busy with these stationery things with anything other than writing with them. So for my next project I want to try to "coat" my Preppy with Urushi Lacquer. Note: This is my first time doing this and I am just learning as I go along. I tried my best to be well informed before doing March 21, 2021 I took off the clip with a my trusty Dremel. It's not difficult to remove and easy to smooth out as long as you have good hand control. Setting the Dremel on High will easily eat away the plastic material of the pen. We better be careful. It looks nice when clipless. Clipless, it feels like you've taken away a chunk of Preppy's personality. It still looks pleasant and slender, sort of androgynous  When it's all smooth after, I proceeded to sand the cap and case with 600, 1200, 2400 grit sand paper. Testing out some Sailor Shikiori Cartridges before fully committing to the bigger ink bottles. I've been looking around for some deep greens for my fountain pen lately. I've got the Herbin Vert de Gris, while it is an awesome muted green, it's not what I'm looking for. Today, I got the Shikiori tokiwamatsu. This is the closest to a dark green they have available in the Analog shop. When the chance arrives, I'm going to compare it to the Miruai. For fun, I ran it on Google Translate just to see what is written there. In a special bra case? That was funny. This was made less than a year ago, when all the world was on lockdown. How awesome is that. Opening and installation will be done tonight and until then, I'm preparing myself to be blown away.

I got my camera out, slapped in some macro lens and decided to do some quick shots of the Sailor Lecoule's nib. This particular example is a fine writer and I've enjoyed using it. Quick info: Pen: Sailor Lecoule Pen Color: Iron Black Nib Size: MF Ink: Herbin Vert de Gris Here it goes. This Stainless Steel Sailor Nib, I assume, is Ion Plated, because it has similar to the exterior accents of the pen. Do not worry about what looks like patina on the nib. It's just the ink, aptly named "Vert de Gris," by Herbin. It is worth noting at this point that the images below will look like the nib is a raw steel color, but in reality it looks like black chrome and the details are very hard to see with the naked eye.  New Pen Day! Sailor Lecoule  New Sailor Fountain Pen pick up today. I've been obsessing over the Shikiori for a few days now but I just can't get over the color choices available. I do see myself getting the more refined Sailor counterparts, but that will be for another day. But until then, I was looking for an understated pen design that I can bring anywhere, yet inexpensive enough to get over with should I lose it. I came across a display of the Lecoule at our local Pen Store and decided to get this for my first Sailor. This will be a stepping stone into my preparation for the more expensive Sailors. New pen day! Pilot Petit 1 I went specifically to National Bookstore to ogle at some pens at their stationery part, without any intention to purchase a pen, as I was saving up to get a Pilot Kakuno Demonstrator. My weak resolve had me picking up a Pilot Petit 1 to play with. That sound like a reasonable price for a "gateway drug" to bring people into Fountain Pens. Clear Feed of the Pilot Petit 1 The feed is clear plastic. It was definitely a show when the ink slowly crept up from the reservoir. It was like awakening the dead, or breathing in a new life. Feed color when primed with black ink Once it fills up, it turns into what color your ink is. As always, black looks awesome. I am not totally sure about the other colors.
